Getting to know more about FlexRN Nurse Cheryl!
- What is your specialty in nursing?
I am multi-disciplined, however Corrections is my forte!
- How long have you been working as a nurse?
10 years as a nurse, I was a medical assistant for 20 years before that.
- And with FlexRN?
3 months with FlexRN!
- Why did you choose to become a nurse?
I do not remember “choosing” to be a nurse. I’ve been in the medical field since I started volunteering at a special needs camp when I was 12 (that was 38 years ago 🙃) It’s just who I am!
- Any hobbies/activities you enjoy outside of nursing?
I love to travel, explore, and be with friends/family. I love red wine and wineries and am a coffee enthusiast! Love walking around thrift/antique shops…traveling is best for this!
- What are some things you enjoy about working with the team at FlexRN?
I have enjoyed the flexibility and open communication. Kelly C. Has been amazing to work with.
- Would you recommend FlexRN to other nurses?
FlexRN does take care of its nurses! Great pay and support!
- Do you have any advice you would like to pass along to other travel nurses?
Do your research, ask questions, step outside your comfort zone for some great learning opportunities and experiences.
- Anything else you would like us to know about you or mention?
I have great support from my family, they are very supportive of my need for change and adventure. My mom maintains my “home base” and I am truly grateful. I have a 23-year-old son that is a welder and a 21-year-old daughter that serves our United States Airforce on a C-130 J. I started to travel a year ago so I could watch her fur babies when she deployed.
Best decision I ever made!
- As a nurse, what’s been your greatest challenge during the COVID-19 crisis?
Nursing is a challenge within itself, COVID has just been another wrench in the world of nursing. I would say the hardest part has been people’s fear. I was going to say understaffing – but that’s not new!
- As a nurse, what is the most important thing you want people to know or do related to COVID-19?
Wash your hands, wash your hands, wash your hands.
